InterWho - Whovian Karen Wiggins

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Karen Wiggins, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!

BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
KW: My name is Karen. I'm 35 years old. My astrological signs are Aries and Year of the Monkey. I have 5 kids. The oldest is my step-son who is 15. My daughters are ages 14, 6, & 4, and my baby boy is 2. My husband and I have been together for 8 years, married on October 24, 2010.

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
KW: I first really started getting into the new Doctor Who in 2007 when my husband introduced me to the series.

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
KW: My favorite episode is in New Who, and it is Don't Blink because of the mystery of the Doctor appearing in "Easter Eggs" on the only 17 DVD's that Sally Sparrow owns. It really plays with the "Wibbley-Wobbley-Timey-Wimey... stuff." That, and the fact that the Doctor is dependent on Sally to send his TARDIS back to 1969 where he is stuck. It is funny, sad, scary and mysterious all at once, and it shows a vulnerability of the Doctor. Also the fact that {SPOILER ALERT!!} Sally discovers that she is the one who gave all the information to the Doctor shows how special an "ordinary" person can be.

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
KW: Tom Baker - for those of you who may not know, he played the role of the 4th Doctor.

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
KW: There is only one Doctor. He may have many faces, but he is the main character, and no matter which actor plays him, they all become a part of him and it's like asking what version or age(s) of yourself is (are) your favorite and why?

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
KW: Although not strictly a companion, I like Harriet Jones because she gets on the Doctor's "bad side" but she makes a good point - he is not always around, and we have to rely on ourselves and make the best decisions we can at the time. In the end she sacrifices herself for the good of mankind and to help the Doctor, but I think it's an important lesson that when we become independent, we may make decisions that disappoint those on whom we used to depend, but we should always be true to ourselves no matter what. Also she teaches that there can be dignity, even in death.
My favorite companion by far though is Donna Noble. She loves the Doctor in a totally platonic manner, and is his "mate" through and through. She starts off as a total prat, but she has a wisdom about her that makes her his equal in a lot of ways, although she doesn't ever see it until the end when she is the Doctor-Donna. It was cool that a whole other dimension popped up around her like a bubble in "Turn Left" but it's sad when she has to forget all the great things she did.

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
KW: I'm not sure when or where I would want to go. Traveling with the Doctor to any time or place is always an adventure, although I wouldn't mind knowing the winning lottery jackpot numbers!

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
KW: Yes, I love both Torchwood and Sherlock. I also love Supernatural, X-Files, My Little Pony and Game of Thrones.

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if they are not related to Doctor Who..
KW: I don't have time for a lot of hobbies, but I love to read, watch movies and television, and write songs and poems. I like to make jewelry and I would love to go back to school to learn metal smithing. I also like Macrame and can make some pretty "fancy" friendship bracelets, when time and funds for supplies permit.
Right now I have a Buskins account, but I haven't made any sales yet.
Feel free to check out my site: http://mybuskins.com/#karenmwiggins

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
KW: I haven't had the opportunity to try any of the products, but I do like the sound of many of the flavored lip balms and spritzers, especially the "Wicked" (Patchouli-Vanilla) and "Noble" (Ginger-Vanilla) spritzers sound very appealing. I'm going to have to save to splurge!

BBB: Can our readers follow you on social sites?
KW: Yes.

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
KW: My husband and I have an extensive collection of Doctor Who, and it keeps growing. We have POP! Vinyls, decorations, mugs, TARDIS galore, a monopoly game, not to mention ALL the released New Who, and most of the Original Who.

InterWho - Whovian Leah Heitzke-Mallard

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Leah, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!
BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
LHM: Hi!  My name’s Leah.  I live in Oklahoma with my husband, our son (and another one on the way,) our three dogs, and our two cats.  I’m constantly working on some crafty project or another.  Right now the biggie is a Super Mario-themed nursery, as our older son lucked out and got the Doctor Who room!

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
LHM: I’m fairly new to the Whoverse.  I guess I stumbled into it around five or so years ago with the 9th Doctor.  I jumped in with both feet and haven’t looked back since.

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
LHM: I haven’t caught up with the Classic Who, but I think my favorite New Who episode would have to be either Blink or The Girl in the Fireplace.  I think Blink was the first time a television show actually terrified me…I was hooked!  And what can I say about The Girl in the Fireplace, it had it all.  It was emotional, magical, romantic, and of course just the right amount of creepy.

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
LHM: Hmm, I can only meet one cast or crew member?  It’s a toss-up between David Tennant or Alex Kingston.  I think they both would have fantastic personalities and senses of humor.  I can’t imagine the stories they could tell!

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
LHM: My favorite Doctor is Ten, but Twelve is quickly catching up.  Ten is quirky without being overly childish, yet he could turn on the protection and fury when need be.

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
LHM: For me, it’s hard to beat the Ponds as companions.  Amy could definitely hold her own and wasn’t afraid to tell the Doctor exactly what she thought.  I loved her feistiness!  And Rory, I couldn’t help but love his dedication to Amy and to everything and everyone that was important to her.

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
LHM: I think I’d like to go back to the Roaring ‘20s, with maybe some sort of Al Capone/gangster/Prohibition element thrown in.  Fashion and danger, it’s all there.

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
LHM: I don’t technically belong to any other fandoms per se.  I guess the closest would be The Walking Dead.  I did go to a Con to meet a cast member.  Other than that, I enjoy comic book movies, I love Orphan Black, and I try to keep up with as many horror films as I can.

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if they are not related to Doctor Who..
LHM: My hobbies, let’s see.  I have to be creating something pretty much all the time, whether it’s sewing, making jewelry, working on graphic design projects, photography, or a variety of other techniques.  I just love trying new ways to make stuff!  I also love films.  I was working on my Master’s thesis in horror films, so that’s still where my interest mainly lies, but I still love most films.

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
LHM: Right now, my favorite Blue Box product is the Sonic Spritz in Naughty.  The staying power of the spritz is much better than my traditional perfumes.  The scent lingers all day!  I can’t wait to try the other spritzes!

***Special! In honor of Leah's favorite product, Blue Box Balm is offering Sonic Spritz "Naughty" for just $5! This special offer ends 3/14, so hurry!

BBB: Can our readers follow you on social sites?
LHM: Really, the only social media site I’m on other than Facebook (Leah's Facebook) is Pinterest.  People are more than welcome to follow me on there:  https://www.pinterest.com/lheitzke/

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
LHM: I love to collect Pops! figures.  Right now my Doctor Who collection is perched on top of my son’s TARDIS armoire.

Big THANK YOU to Leah for participating in our whovian interviews!

InterWho - Whovian Lorraine Cox

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Lorraine Cox, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!

BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
LC: My name is Lorraine, and I'm a geek mom of 2 little geekling girls! I live on the West Coast of Canada in the BC Lower Mainland, and love it here! I'm within an hour of ocean, mountain or any outdoor activity! As well, I love to cook, which thanks to that a little bit I now have to hit the gym! In addition, I work at YVR International Airport, so I do see some neat people!

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
LC: I became a Whovian about 3 years ago when one of my close friends challenged me to watch some New Who and see how it goes. Needless to say, it was addiction at first episode!

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
LC: I like the special episode Day of the Doctor with 10, 11 and War. It was so well executed and the melding of the classic with new was seamless!

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
LC: I have met John Barrowman by complete fluke at work! He was checking in at first class and I happened to be working that counter! He is a master of the selfie! I would love to meet David Tennant, because he is hot! Haha! And Billie Piper, as I listened to her music prior to following her into Doctor Who!
*Lorraine has also met famous violinist, Lindsey Stirling!

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
LC: 10 is one of my favourites, with 12 coming up fast! I love how they are conflicted, and with 10 he is so torn with his feelings for Rose! 12 is attached to Clara, and he's got angry eyebrows!

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
LC: I loved Rose, and her sass! She was capable, and not completely a damsal in distress! I also liked Captain Jack, because he was cheeky and challanged 10 in ways that needed to be done!

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
LC: I would love to see Monet during the Impressionist period, or go meet with Churchill, one of my historical idols! I mean, the man lived off cigars and brandy, and managed to lead a nation during an important time in history!

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
LC: I am into Star Wars, Firefly, Sherlock, Arrow... my kids have been raised on a healthy diet of Star Wars and Firefly as well as Doctor Who and Marvel! I love how they each draw you in! I've also gotten hooked on Orphan Black (Tatiana Maslany is AMAZEBALLS! Seriously, 8 clones??). Marvel is also awesome, with my daughter happy to have been Black Widow after seeing Age of Ultron with mommy! Another one that I'm not sure that airs in the US is X-Company. Its a period based drama based on real events and the real Camp X that was a base in Canada for espionage training during WWII and many American spies trained there too!

The R2D2 Star Wars Plane!

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if it is not related to Doctor Who..
LC: I'm a little funny, I play video games (Elder Scrolls Online, Marvel Heroes, Vindictus), as well as cook and bake. In down time, I hit the gym in order to try to do another Tough Mudder! I also have a green belt in Shotokan Karate, and competed in tournaments for sparring (fighting) and kata (forms, kinda like a solo fight routine.)

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
LC: I've been hooked on the balms since I first discovered them by fluke on etsy! They are in my purse, backpack and work bag! They are awesome and I plan to buy more!
*Lorraine's favorite lip balms are Tempest, Allons-y! and The Blue Box

***Special! In honor of Lorraine's favorite product (well one of them, anyway!) Blue Box Balm is offering Allons-y for just $2! This special offer ends 3/10, so hurry!

BBB: Can our readers follow you on social sites?
LC: I can be found on Twitter as @KitharaCox, Beme as kitharac, and Snapchat as kitharacox836

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
LC: I have a huge Funko Pop collection that is close to 40 figures, with my hubby practically finishing the first release Doctor Who set for me in 1 go at Christmas! I've been to E3 back in 2004 (gaming convention) and plan to try to go to some comicons soon! I also have met Captain Jack as well!

Lorraine's daughter, Rose with the TARDIS

InterWho - Whovian Leigh Bull

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Leigh Bull so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!
BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
LB: Hi, I'm Leigh! I'm 22 years old and live in Wales - I've sadly never seen any Doctor Who scenes being filmed here, but I have heard that the coal pit and 'Global Chemical' scenes in the Jon Pertwee serial 'The Green Death' were filmed near my town, so that's my claim to fame :P I have a genetic disorder that causes me to have epileptic seizures, along with becoming easily exhausted from having hypermobile weak joints among other problems, so I'm currently unable to work or do much - but I like to fill my time with watching awesome shows like Doctor Who and drawing fanart of my favourite characters :)

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
LB: I first got into Doctor Who when it was brought back in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston - my parents suggested that we all watch it together as a family because they grew up watching the Classic series, and I've been hooked ever since!

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
LB: Well, anyone who's talked to me can probably guess that I love the 1996 movie featuring Paul McGann, if that counts, even though it's not an 'episode'. I just love absolutely everything about it - Paul McGann is a fantastic Doctor, the Master is my favourite Doctor Who villain and I think Eric Roberts is amazing as him (and rocks the best outfit at the end!), Grace is a wonderful companion and it's a really interesting change to see the Master get a companion in the form of Chang Lee too (not to mention that Chang Lee is one of my favourite Doctor Who characters ever, he acts tough but has a heart of gold really and just wants to do the right thing. Oh, and he also gets the coolest 'first TARDIS entrance' out of anyone, just look at the way he confidently swings both doors open and then goes 'nope' when he sees what's inside :P) The TARDIS interior and costumes are stunning, and I think the whole movie looks fantastic for something that was made for TV in the 90's - I think the movie may have failed to be a hit because of how it tried too hard to please both British and American audiences, the old fans of the Classic series along with people who knew nothing about Doctor Who, but I still greatly enjoy it and think it bridges the gap between the Classic and New series very well :) Plus it introduced me to some of my favourite actors - all four main cast members are lovely people and I have become a massive fan of Eric Roberts' work since first discovering him in the Doctor Who movie, now having watched 35 of his many movies and various episodes of different TV shows that he's been in :P

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
LB: Well, I'd ideally love to meet all four main cast members of the Doctor Who movie! I've already met Paul McGann and he was lovely, though I would like to meet him again because I got a bit 'starstruck' and couldn't talk properly when I saw him :P I've also met Daphne Ashbrook, who is an absolute sweetheart and all around wonderful human being (she's even called me her 'friend' on twitter!) I'm going to be seeing her again at a convention in May, along with hopefully getting to meet Yee Jee Tso there as well, I'm really excited about that - so that leaves Eric Roberts, I'd absolutely love for him to come to a UK convention so that I could meet him and discuss all the films he's been in, he's had such a long and interesting career that I'd love to learn more about (plus I've converted my nan into becoming a big Eric Roberts fan as well after watching a lot of his movies with her, so she'd love to see him too - come on Eric, get over here to the UK so your two biggest fans can meet you!)

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
LB: Probably the Sixth Doctor or the Eighth Doctor :) I'm one of the few who loves the Sixth Doctor's fashion sense lol, his multicoloured coat is awesome, and the confidence he has in himself is something I aspire to have :P I also love the Eighth Doctor's gorgeous Victorian era inspired outfit and childlike personality, with the sense of awe and wonder he feels at the smallest quirks about the human race that he loves so much really shining through and making him instantly lovable.

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
LB: Awww, would it be cheating to say Chang Lee since he technically wasn't a companion to the Doctor for the majority of the film? :P If not him, then probably Grace. Her character introduction of being at the opera, running down the hospital hall in slow motion as the music still plays and then performing surgery while still wearing her dress makes for some fantastic and iconic imagery - she's beautiful and intelligent, being a talented cardiologist and even managing to reroute the TARDIS under extreme pressure by herself later on in the film, really living up to her nickname 'Amazing Grace'. I thought her romance with the Doctor was sweet, but I liked that she decided to leave him on her own terms at the end, even asking him to stay with her instead. I would have loved for the Eighth Doctor, Grace and Chang Lee to have stayed together and become a TARDIS team if the movie had gone on to be developed into a proper series, and it's a real shame that Grace and Lee don't seem to be allowed back now due to apparent rights issues, but I love that the Big Finish audios have still managed to bring Yee Jee Tso and Daphne Ashbrook back in the form of playing new characters Charlie Sato and Ruth Matheson in 'Tales From the Vault', 'Mastermind' and 'The Screaming Skull' (which are great audios, you should listen to them if you haven't already!)

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
LB: Honestly, I can't think of anything particularly enlightening that I'd want to do or see in the past, so I think I'd just like to go to 1977 America to watch Eric Roberts playing 'Ted Bancroft #1' in soap opera 'Another World' as it was his earliest TV acting role and no footage of it seems to exist today.

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
LB: Hmm, not particularly - obviously I like other shows (such as, indeed, Sherlock) but not to the extent that I draw fanart or engage in any fan discussions, etc. with anyone about them. Unless there's an 'Eric Roberts fandom' that counts lol, because I really am quite invested in watching all his movies and following his career - I listen to a brilliant podcast that gives hilarious reviews of his movies, which can be found at 'ericrobertsistheman.com' or on twitter at '@ERITFM', and the great thing is that it never gets boring because of the massive range of vastly different movies that Eric Roberts has been in (for example, ERITFM's first episode reviewed his films 'Star 80' and 'First Dog' - suffice to say that they're very, very different movies :P) And they've even reviewed the Doctor Who movie, check it out! It's certainly interesting to hear it being reviewed from the perspective of people who don't know anything about Doctor Who (Warning that the website and podcast contains NSFW language, though, and the Doctor Who review starts about 40 minutes into the episode - also, they mentioned me at around the 50 minute mark when they asked what 'TARDIS' stood for!)
http://www.ericrobertsistheman.com/episode-7-rude-awakening-1989-doctor-who-1996/

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if they are not related to Doctor Who..
LB: I can't engage in many particularly active hobbies due to my disabilities, but I enjoy going to conventions to meet my favourite actors and using those opportunities to dress up in the amazing cosplay outfits that my nan and mam make of the characters I like (my favourite being an absolutely gorgeous replica my nan made of the red cloak outfit that Eric Roberts' version of the Master wore at the end of the Doctor Who movie - so far I've only worn it to one convention and I had such a fantastic response, especially since I was also carrying a lovely Chang Lee doll that my mam and nan also made, with various people asking to have photos with me and even saying that they 'loved' me! I'd like to wear that same outfit to the May convention when I meet Daphne Ashbrook and Yee Jee Tso, I'm hoping they'll like it) I also love to draw, as I previously mentioned, and tend to draw my favourite characters - I've even posted some of my art on twitter and had wonderful responses from Yee Jee Tso when I've shown him my pictures of Chang Lee, I'll have to draw a picture of him for his upcoming birthday too as a gift :P

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
LB: Aww, that's such a tough decision, I can't decide - I absolutely love all the ones I've bought, along with the samples you've sent me! But I do especially love the shimmer of 'Asian Child', I love taking it around in my Chang Lee 'Balm Buddy', and I am biased with him being my favourite character :P

***Special! In honor of Leigh's favorite product, Blue Box Balm is offering Asian Child Lip Balm for just $2! This special offer ends 3/8, so hurry!

BBB: Can our readers follow you on social sites?
LB: Yes, you can follow me on twitter at @cookiepianos :)

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
LB: Not that I can think of, I think I've mentioned everything - thank you so much for interviewing me, I feel honoured that you wanted to and I've had a lot of fun answering these questions! Your products are amazing and I can't wait to try out more of them :)

**I wanted to show you some illustrations Leigh did featuring Grace & Chang Lee with a Blue Box Balm flair!

Big THANK YOU to Leigh for participating in our whovian interviews!

InterWho - Whovian Rebekah Yates

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Rebekah Yates, so grab a cup of tea (maybe 2!) and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!

BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
RY: Hey-yo, I'm Becka.  I find this question really hard to answer -lol- I actually did all the other questions first, this is the last one. I always feel like I'm filling out some sort of random online dating profile!  Um, well. Basic stuff I guess, born in '77 in Detroit, immigrated to Canada in 2001, dual citizen. Married, have one kid, one cat, we live in a house.  I love being in water but I'm not a very good swimmer. Bridges and boats terrify me.  Spiders too, don't like them.  I love cupcakes but I'd say I enjoy more salty/savory foods. I also am not super keen on chocolate and I find most chocolate cake to be gross! You REALLY have to have amazing  flavour combinations for me to love it. If I say  I enjoy your chocolate cake, trust me, that's a HUGE compliment!  I love being around my family and friends but an ideal weekend for me is legit to go camping solo with a couple of good books, a bottle or two of wine and a campfire.  I really like cats, it always used to surprise people up till recently that I didn't actually HAVE a cat - people assumed I had like 20 or something. More random facts... I love to scrapbook with paper and stickers, none of that digital stuff! I love the feeling of working with paper. I love trashy romance novels.  I like painting but it makes me anxious - want to be amused? Take me to a paint night, give me a few drinks and watch me unravel.. it's ok, I'll laugh about me being a total dingus with you!  I like road races but I'm not sure I actually like running. I'm all about the bling. My favourite medal is probably my half marathon medal from Miami, it's shiny gold with palm trees and diamonds.   I guess I can wrap this up, I'm sure those who find me on social media will get a feel of me more there. Don't be shy!   xo

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
RY: I had seen some Classic who as a youngster - Tom Baker's 4th Doctor. I would watch it with my dad sometimes. It wasn't something he would seek out, but if it was on TV when he was channel surfing, he'd leave it playing.  As for NuWho, we fell down that rabbit hole pretty quickly in December of 2013 after attending Ottawa's PopExpo.  On our adventures that day, my son Loosh (at the time 7) discovered the newly built Ottawa Tardis, Daleks and of course K-9 with the Doctor Who Society of Canada-Ottawa Chapter.  After a good amount of time interacting with Dalek Souffle, we discovered that she was being piloted by none other than Neve McIntosh. On our way home, Loosh asked if we could watch the show "all those awesome things were from" and I said, SURE why not.  It was just after the 50th anniversary had aired, Series 1-7a were on Netflix so we fired it up that night and watched Rose & The End of the World before bedtime.  In any other moment, I would have binge watched the entire show, but Netflix told on me because The Unquiet Dead was marked watched, and my son was very mad that I watched without him *L*

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
RY: I haven't had a chance to go back and watch much Classic Who to know exactly what episodes are what, it's on my list of things to watch more of. I tend to gravitate towards more 3rd & 4th Doctor when I do.   My favourite NuWho episode? Man it's hard to pick JUST one. Can I pick one from each Doctor? *L* I would say my favourite 9th Doctor episode is The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. 10th Doctor I would have to say the Fires of Pompeii. For 11, I have a harder time nailing down just one. The stories were so much more complex and intertwined. I would say for series 5-7, that I would choose, Vincent & The Doctor, The Girl Who Waited or Journey to the Centre of the Tardis.   For 12, again very hard to choose just one. Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express, Hell Bent/Heaven Sent were my faves. I'm sure that will change as I rewatch series 8 & 9 over the next bit though while waiting for series 10 to arrive.

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
RY: Catherine Tate hands down. She's a brilliantly funny lady whom I admired well before Doctor Who. That said, I wouldn't say no to meeting any of the cast!

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
RY: I have a soft spot for all the NuWho Doctors, I love them for different reasons, but to choose just one, I'm going to have to say Matt Smith's 11.   When 11 showed up on the scene, I just didn't "get" him. He was this noodley arm flailing goofball, it just felt all wrong. I got all the way to the end of his run and was ready to move on. I was more in love with the Ponds than the Doctor (and I totally hated Clara which is another story!).  I spent a lot of time listening to the soundtracks to the series while I worked (I need something without words when I edit photos) and really connected to the music of series 5-7.  On a second watch of 11's run, I really fell in love with him and had a better appreciation for how "old" this young Doctor was. How fierce he was and how dangerous he was.  When 11 got mad, it was more than a little bit scary.

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
RY: I originally started this with just Donna, but I feel I need to get my newly appreciative feelings for Clara in here as well. I really did not like Clara when she started her regular run as a Companion in 7B.  However, like most Companions she grew on me a little bit. I started to give her a chance. With all her character development with 12, I really grew to love her, especially after re-watching from start to finish.  Face the Raven is up there with Angels Take Manhattan. I haven't re-watched it, it hurts too much.   As series 9 was wrapping up, I realized that I was really going to miss having Clara in the Tardis and she's honestly the first Companion that I can't see any kind of replacement for.

Donna Noble however,  is my spirit animal.  I find that of all the NuWho Companions, Donna has the saddest beginning and the saddest ending with the most amazing journey between them.  The amount of personal growth as a human being that takes place is astounding, plus don't we all wish that others around us would see us for something more, believe in us more and encourage us to be better. Donna went from being the person who needed that, to being the person who was DOING that. Helping those around her to be more, to be better, to be believed in.

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
RY: Like Rose, the need to go back and spend time with her passed on parent is great. Being able to go back in time to spend even just one more day with my mom would be the greatest gift.  I wouldn't try to change the outcome, but I would definitely take her on vacations and do silly things that I missed out on with living so far away the last 13 years of her life.

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
RY: I do enjoy me some Torchwood and Sherlock (of various makes).  I am a big fan of the most recent Sherlock series with Benedict and Martin, however I am a huge fan of Jeremy Brett's Sherlock as well. Our kitty cat's name is Watson, I'd love to get "Sherlock" but my husband is good with one cat, and the kid is determined whatever second cat we get is named Sushi *L*

Another fandom that I love, is the Wizarding World.  I partake in lots of things HP, including the Hogwart's Running Club (http://www.hogwartsrunningclub.org/) which is a virtual run club that holds various events over the course of a calendar year benefiting different charities each time.   We use an app called Charity Miles that not only gives sponsored donations  to a charity of our choice for every run, walk or bike ride that we do, it gives us "House Points".  Yes, we very much do a House Cup *L* In 2015, HRC runners raised nearly $500,000 via the Charity Miles app, and $406,171 from the event registrations. Earlier this year when we lost Alan Rickman, we raised nearly $30k for one of his favourite charities in less than a week.  It's amazing to be part of something so huge that does #SoMuchGood

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if they are not related to Doctor Who..
RY: I am a photographer, owning my own business.  I focus mainly on family portraiture, but love to throw in the mix some glamour, wedding or even some saucy boudoir sessions.  I've been taking photographs pretty much my entire life, my first camera was this tiny little 110 film camera from Kodak. My parents gave it to me, before the tender age of 5, because I kept taking my mom's camera and using up all her film! That thing went EVERYWHERE with me and I had it well into my teens. I wish I still had it to be honest, if anything for nostalgia.  But yeah, if you're ever in the Ottawa Valley and want pretty pictures, hit me up :) https://www.facebook.com/miaouphotography

Hobby-wise, phew yeah. Photography for fun, playing piano, scrapbooking, hiking. I love to play video games with my son (LEGO Dimensions currently), watching movies/TV and spend a lot of time nerding out with my best friend Chrissy. We get into some seriously wacky adventures together.  I also do Doctor Who cosplay, with Donna & Amy being my two go-tos for inspiration.  I'm all about the cosplay that I can pull from my closet. Yes I've had to go out and buy clothing/accessories for it all, but there is nothing from them I can't wear every day if I felt like it.  I also do a gender bent Captain America (with a vintage flair), but most people don't get it. That's ok though, I love it and it's a fun one to do. One day I'll choose a character with a more involved presence, but who it is, I just don't know. My son also gets into the cosplay game with me when we go out; his current offerings are Rory Williams, 11th Doctor, Owen Grady and Dipper Pines.

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
RY: Oh gosh, this is almost as hard as introducing myself. I have to say my favourite balms are Doctor Donna & EarthShock.  My favourite scent product is the Wicked moisturizing stick. I wear it almost every day, not just to soften up all my rough spots but just as a general "perfume". I recently just got some of the new Sonic Spritz products and they are DIVINE.  Just a wee bit goes a long way without being overpowering!  I have applied it early in the morning and at bedtime over 12 hours later, it's still there.  I've got a matching Spritz for my moisturizing sticks. The perfect combination!

***Special! In honor of Becka's favorite product, Blue Box Balm is offering Doctor Donna Lip Balm for just $2! This special offer ends 3/5, so hurry!

BBB: Can our readers follow you on social sites?
RY: Sure! If you're a Balmer in our group, feel free to add me to your FB. I'm probably sitting there wishing I could  work up the nerve to add you -lol-  Fair warning though, there's a lot of my cat, I try to keep it mostly to his own social media  to save my personal Facebook from overwhelming my friends with all the cat pics. https://www.facebook.com/comewatson  https://www.instagram.com/miaouphoto/

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
RY: I attend the Ottawa ComicCon, Pop Expo, Geek Market as well as the Montreal ComicCon. One day I'd love to hit some of the bigger ones like NYC, Wizard World. I'd like to say San Diego, but that one I think is TOO big for me -lol-  I've only done 3 DW cast member photo ops: John Barrowman on his own and then again with Eve Myles and one with  Billie Piper.  The rest of my photo ops have been different fandoms (Sir Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite, Billy Boyd, Ernie Hudson, Tom Felton). I'm hoping to get a photo op this Spring at OCC with Karen Gillan.  My most perfect and ideal photo op would be Alex Kingston, Karen Gillan, Arthur Davrill and Matt Smith.  My most ideal but  probably never will happen photo op would be  with Tom Hiddleston. Collection wise - I have a soft spot for PopVinyls. I have to be really careful and choose with great consideration to  which I get because I would buy them all *L* I also collect Doctor Who comics which I over organize into binders sorted by Doctor *L*

InterWho - Whovian Sheila Swartz

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Sheila Swartz, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!

BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
SS: Hi! My name is Sheila and I’m 30 years old. I live in the Northwest United States with my wonderful and amazing mom, who takes care of me since I was born with cerebral palsy. I weighed 1 lb., 9 oz. at birth, but I’ve grown a little. . . I teach New Testament Greek for a local Christian study program, and my faith in Jesus is the biggest blessing in my life. I love to hang out with friends; they’ve become accustomed to my quoting Doctor Who at really random times.

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
SS: I discovered the show about a year before the 50th anniversary.

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
SS: I just got caught up on all of New Who, and “Vincent and the Doctor” remains my favorite episode. I saw a few episodes prior to that one while channel flipping one evening; I found the show confusing at first, to be honest! “Vincent” was the one that got me irrevocably hooked on Who. I absolutely love the way The Doctor cultivates people’s ability to impact each other’s lives, whether or not one is aware of it at the time. While Vincent’s end didn’t change, watching him discover his own influence was just so powerful! I also really liked the way Amy encouraged Vincent and accepted him amidst his brokenness. “Bow ties are cool!”

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
SS: David Tennant. He’s a fabulously versatile actor and seems like a kind, gentle man in real life. I am fascinated by his command of language when he does Shakespeare, and he can bounce back and forth between humor and depth in so many roles. David has inspired me to try recording audio books someday. I also enjoy some music from “The Proclaimers” and have a Converse shoe collection, so we’d have a few things in common. Plus, you know, there’s his epic hair.

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
SS: Eleven is my Doctor! Matt Smith was the first one I watched, and he embodies such a delightful mix of physical goofiness and introspective moments. It just makes sense that The Doctor can be protective/strong and yet remain utterly entertained by the world(s) around him. It’s as if he’s a 900-year-old child! The Eleventh Doctor has delivered a lot of great speeches in the series and has a dynamite rapport with River Song.

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
SS: Hmmm. I’m a huge fan of the Ponds, but I think I’d have to choose Donna overall. She’s so sassy and keeps The Doctor on his toes. Her extroverted and outspoken personality makes her such a fun character, and she saves the world a lot, even if she can't always remember.

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
SS: England circa the late 1940’s. I’m a massive fan of authors C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, and I’d love to meet them and observe them critiquing one another’s works.

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
SS: Honestly, no. Although, I’m pleased with the way “Downton Abbey” has turned out, and I’ve been known to fangirl over the music group “Celtic Thunder.”

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if it is not related to Doctor Who..
SS: When I’m not teaching Greek, I enjoy studying/using other foreign languages - mostly Irish and Spanish. I also do Irish dance. Since I’m unable to walk, I use the shoes on my hands, previously spending over six years doing classes and performances with able-bodied friends. I also love to read and watch college tennis matches.

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
SS: Definitely the “Amy’s Choice” lip balm! It’s the best balm I’ve ever used.

***Special! In honor of Sheila's favorite product, Blue Box Balm is offering Amy's Choice Lip Balm for just $2! This special offer ends 2/29, so hurry!

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
SS: There have been mini conventions at the library, and some people built a life-sized, functioning Dalek named Klaus. The first time I plunger bumped him, he scanned me and said, “My traveling machine is superior to your traveling machine!” I beg to differ. . .

InterWho - Whovian Amanda Creasy

Hello Sweeties!

Welcome to our next InterWho (Whovian Interview)..
I had the pleasure of interviewing Amanda Creasy, so grab a cup of tea and enjoy the read ...
Allons-y!

BBB: Please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us about yourself…
AC: Hello Traci, and hi everyone!  I’m Mandy- I’m 36 and have been married to my fantastic hubby Scott for 11 years.  I work as a Data Processor for an online high school, and have worked for the company for about 9 years.

I’ve lived in Pennsylvania my whole life, although I’ve moved about a few times in the state.  I grew up in a very rural area in NW Pennsylvania, then moved to Central PA, and I’ve lived in NE Pennsylvania since 2007.

BBB: When did you first become a Whovian?
AC:  I’m a fairly recent Whovian.  I took a shine to the show “Big Bang Theory” and Sheldon and Leonard kept mentioning Doctor Who.  When we got Netflix last year, I decided to give the show a chance because I wasn’t sure what else to watch.

As someone who was never exposed to any type of sci-fi show, I wasn’t sure what to think of it, but within a week, I was hooked!  I loved that the show didn’t define itself by being totally serious or completely silly.  It’s still my favorite part of Who- it’s whatever it wants to be whenever it wants to be it.

BBB: What is your favorite Classic Who and/or New Who episode and why?
AC:   I was just recently gifted the 4th Doctor’s episodes on DVD, but I haven’t started watching them just yet, so I’ll have to go solely on New Who.
I don’t know that I have one episode that stands out as an absolute favorite- I have a few from each series that are near and dear, but to choose only one?  What’s the old adage about picking your favorite child?  ;)

I suppose I’m feeling warm and fuzzy tonight, so I’d go with “The Lodger”, which features Matt’s Doctor.  He and James Corden play off each other so well and I find it incredibly charming.  I love all of the Doctors, but Matt’s Doctor had these quirks that I find absolutely endearing and I think they’re at showcased beautifully in this episode.  He’s lovely and charming and alien…and I wish he’d make me an omelet because the one on the show looked pretty amazing.

BBB: If you could meet just one Doctor Who cast or crew member, who would it be?
AC: That depends- is this a quick meet and greet, run in and out?  If so, I’d choose David Tennant, because I’d love the chance to meet him and I’ve seen Esty’s pictures and am incredibly jealous!  ;)

However, if this is a chance to really meet someone- to sit down and talk with them over a cup of tea or coffee, an hour or so…I’d pick Chris Eccleston.  I’d love to have the time to sit down and talk with the man, to learn a little more about him.  He’s so private, and I completely respect that, but at the same time, it makes me want to know him all the more.  To have an opportunity to learn a bit more about someone I genuinely admire and respect would be phenomenal.

BBB: Who is your favorite Doctor and why?
AC: I haven’t met a Doctor I didn’t love.  Each has his own unique personality quirks and traits. That being said, Nine is my Doctor.  He’s dark and moody, bogged down by grief and guilt…yet he still remains silly and quick to smile.  I only wish we had Chris as the Doctor for more than one series.

BBB: Who is your favorite companion and why?
AC: I know some of you aren’t going to like me for this, and that’s okay, but Rose will probably always be my favorite companion.  I liked that she was an ordinary girl with courage to stand up for what she thought was right- even if it went against what the Doctor thought.

I know many people did not like their romantic story line, but the thought that she created the dimension cannon specifically to get back to the Doctor…if that isn’t loyalty, I’m not sure what is.  (Okay, okay, she was worried about the stars going out too, but hey, let’s just be romantic for a minute and say it was because she missed him and couldn’t live without him.)

BBB: If you could travel with The Doctor in his TARDIS to any time and/or place, where would you like to go?
AC: If it was allowed, I’d just like to go somewhere that I could help; make a difference.  I think that might be a common trait of people who watch the show- we see the world going by and we want to help, but we’re not sure how.  Everything the Doctor does seems rather grandiose, doesn’t it?  You can always see the big picture, whereas, if you do something to help in real life, you’re never really sure it made a difference.  So, I’d like to go somewhere/some place/some time and do something that helps someone- even if it’s just one person.

BBB: Are you in any other fandoms besides Doctor Who? Such as Torchwood or Sherlock?
AC: Oh gravy.  So, being nerdy is pretty cool right now, but I don’t think we want to travel down the roads of my fandoms…they are neither trendy nor cool.  But, since you asked, I’m a fan of Big Bang Theory, The Simpsons, The Waltons, Doctor Quinn, Bonanza, Dragnet, and Antiques Roadshow.  I’ve written fanfiction for Big Bang, Bonanza, and Doctor Who.
So…yeah.  I’m uh…I’m pretty hip and cool.  *crickets*

Amanda's DW display at home

BBB: Tell us about your business or hobbies even if it is not related to Doctor Who..
AC: My husband and I love the outdoors.  We camp several times a year and we’ve got three different tents to take depending on the size of the site and what kind of facility we will be staying at.  We’ve been to 103 of the 120 state parks in Pennsylvania and hope to visit all of them some day.  (My favorites are RB Winter SP and Clear Creek SP, if you were curious!)

Hubs is an avid fisherman, so most weekends if the weather is nice, you will find us out in our little 14 ft fishing boat.

I think the nicest thing about being outdoors is noticing things that you’d just walk by any other time. There is no better sound on earth (in my opinion) than katydids in late summer.

Other interests?  Antiquing, pretty much anything vintage from the 40’s/50’s, trains/rail lines from the past, stories that have been handed down, local history, family history, cross stitch, reading, writing, and cooking.

BBB: Tell us your favorite product from Blue Box Balm..
AC: I think most of you who know me already know the answer to this one- it’s the Ninth Doctor’s balm, Fantastic!  Chocolate and banana- it’s the perfect combination!  I have at least 4 sticks at the moment and I use it at least once a day.

Amanda's Blue Box Balm Collection at work

BBB: Can our readers follow you on social sites?
AC: I’m on Facebook a lot, and I do have a Twitter account, but I’m not going to pretend like I’m super adept at using it!  If you want to follow me, you can do so @acreasy1

BBB: Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up this interview (such as conventions you gone to, cast you have met, a collection you have, etc)?
AC: I’ve never been to a con and I’m not sure if I’d ever have the nerve to go.  I love small groups of people but I’m easily overwhelmed with big groups…  So, as much as I’d love to meet all the lovely people from the world of Doctor Who, it sadly seems like it probably won’t happen.

I would love to travel to the UK at some point in my life and visit England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.  Not only do I want to check out the Doctor Who museum in Wales, but I have a ton of family history in Ireland that I’d love to look into.  I have a friend in England that I’d love to meet, too.

Big THANK YOU to Amanda for participating in our whovian interviews!
